(I’m Gonna) Pie Myself Blind

Organic Chicken, Smoked Cheese and Mushroom Pie, from Pure Pie

Amidst the commuter hell of London Bridge train station is a mysterious pie concession which appears to be called, catchily, “Pie”. On closer inspection it turns out to be a company called Pure Pie, and according to the blurb all the ingredients are organic and locally produced, and all the meat is free range.

Happy pies from happy chickens?

That haven’t done 3 laps of the earth before they get to you?

Yikes!

All their pies have the distinctive circular crimping displayed above, and many are available in take-away-and-homebake versions. The Chicken, Applewood Smoked Cheese and Mushroom is excellent, as are the Butterbean, the Thai Chicken and the Steak and Horseradish varieties to be honest: all quite different and very welcome additions to the pie smorgasbord.

They’re London based but have stalls at festivals etc, see the Pure Pie website for details.
